MHS team wins Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge

A team from Marshalltown High School won the Junior Achievement Stock Market Challenge on April 9, held at the John Deere Financial Building in Johnston.

The team of Drake Stalzer, Carson Beals, Will Van Buren and David Wahl took home top honors  in the contest, which was a simulation of 60 trading days on the stock market. They started with a mock portfolio of $500,000 and ended with a portfolio valued at $824,020.

There were a total of 33 teams competing at the event from 13 schools. MHS also finished first on average portfolio as both MHS teams collectively averaged a portfolio of $725,635. The other MHS team included Tyler Downey, Brent Johnson, Jose Orozco Beltre and Caleb Summers.
