Marshalltown High School instrumental and vocal music students participated in the State Solo/Small Ensemble Contest on April 8 in Newton.
The band earned 30 Division I Ratings and 10 Division II ratings. The orchestra earned three Division I ratings and four Division II ratings. Vocal music earned nine Division I ratings, nine Division II ratings and two Division III ratings.
Marshalltown High School senior Nick Cooper received an Outstanding Performance Award (Best of Center) for his vocal solo. Cooper will perform at the outstanding performers recital at Iowa State University on May 10.
