Hoglan Elementary School presented a donation check of $1,715 to the House of Compassion during an assembly on December 22.

The money was raised during a recent penny war pitting classes against each other to see which one could raise the most money.

Karen Frohwein, director of the House of Compassion, accepted the check from Hoglan Principal Amy Williams. Frohwein said the money will be used for the general fund to help provide meals, stock the supply closet and run the family overnight shelter at the facility that supports those in need.

“It’s just amazing the generosity,” Frohwein said of the donation.
