Marshalltown Community College student Nina Bales reads to kindergarten students at Woodbury Elementary School as part of National Young Readers Week on November 18
Woodbury Elementary School capped off National Young Readers week with some special guests on November 18.
Student athletes from Marshalltown Community College visited the school to read to the students as did other guests and the Marshalltown High School mascot Bobby the Bobcat.
The MCC athletes represented the men’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams. In some cases, Woodbury students read to the college students and were also able to ask the athletes questions. Woodbury staff also read to students throughout the building.
Woodbury had a week chock full of reading activities that were designed to get students more excited about books.
