Gary Schaudt talks about the financial services field to students at Lenihan Intermediate School on March 30.
Gary Schaudt, a financial advisor with SagePoint Financial in Marshalltown, made a stop at Lenihan Intermediate School to talk about his profession to classes taught by Laura Fricke and Raul Arevalo on March 30.
Schaudt highlighted his career and spent time talking about the ins and outs of the stock market, which he has been involved with since he was younger.
“I made my first trade when I was in high school,” Schaudt said.
Schaudt had the students compare a set of company stock prices over the course of 10 years and talked about the fluctuation of the market. For instance, Schaudt said Amazon’s stock was trading at $37.04 just 10 years ago and it has gone up to the $600 range.
Schaudt is a Marshalltown native who lived throughout the country before returning home and entering the financial services field.
Fricke said it’s important for students to learn about the different career options there are available for them.
“It helps give these kids ideas of other opportunities out there,” Fricke said.
