The trendy new breakfast spot in town is Café Hoglan, where the menu offers more than coffee and snacks – it includes books.
Hoglan Elementary received a $750 mini-grant from AEA 267 for increasing parent involvement, especial among the families of English Language Learners. Each quarter parents are invited to school for coffee and treats, as well as a free book for each family.
Wednesday, Oct. 15, was the first Café Hoglan and more than 100 parents and grandparents came for breakfast and reading. The next Café Hoglan is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 9.
In addition to the mini grant, Café Hoglan is supported by Title I funds and donations from Team Hoglan, the parent-teacher organization.
