MHS graduate pokes in science class, teaches phlebotomy

A recent graduate of Marshalltown High School went back to visit with needles, a fake arm and knowledge in the medical field to share with science classes.

Joe Carmichael, a 2007 MHS graduate, the 2012 Iowa Phlebotomist of the Year and a phlebotomist at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, taught the principles of biomedical science class Wednesday about what a phlebotomist does, showed them different types of needles and taught them how to draw blood.
