Hundreds of students and their families filed through Marshalltown High School Monday night, taking part in fun and interactive learning at the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Carnival.
The carnival was hosted by Science Bound, a program with Iowa State University that focuses on increasing the number of minorities in STEM careers. MHS Science Bound students presented a number of experiments, from chemical reactions to water filtration. Students from the Extended Learning Program had displays from the numerous activities in which they participate like Envirothon and Science Olympiad, and several classes and departments had interactive displays.
The carnival came directly after the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Project Lead The Way (PLTW) innovation labs. Read more about the ribbon cutting here.
