MHS student is semifinalist in “America the Beautiful” national essay contest

Marshalltown High School student Chandler Fisher is one of 100 national semifinalists in the “America the Beautiful” essay contest sponsored by Rand-McNally.

The contest invited students across the country to compose a 400-600 word essay on one question: Where’s the one place in the United States that truly inspires you? Fisher wrote about Washington, D.C., working on his composition as an independent Extended Learning Program project last spring.

As a semifinalist Fisher will receive a free Barnes & Noble NOOK Tablet and have his essay published in the “America the Beautiful” eBook on nook.com.

More information about the contest and a list of all semifinalists and finalists can found here.
