Thanks to the creative inspirations of some Miller Middle School art students, the Miller band room will soon be decked out in colorful original artwork.
Miller art teacher Carol Webb worked with Miller band instructor Sarah Baldus to bring color and creativity to the stark white walls of the band room. About 40 8th grade students have painted a set of panels – each one representing a musical instrument and inspired by the music it plays.
The work of Jackson Pollock inspired the overall style of the installation after a group of art students saw one of his pieces in Des Moines.
