Franklin PTSA challenge raises $736 for Emergency Food Box

Before spring break, the Franklin Elementary Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) put a challenge to students: “Read a Book, Feed a Family.”

For every picture book or chapter of a chapter book read the PTSA would pledge $1 for the Emergency Food Box. Thirty-seven students participated in the challenge, reading 736 picture books/chapters and raising $736 for the Emergency Food Box.

Marnie Stone, Franklin PTSA president, said the challenge was a way to encourage reading and also help those in need.
